Tesla Cybertruck Deliveries Drop Significantly in 2025

Tesla’s Cybertruck has faced a sharp decline in deliveries this year, with just over 16,000 units sold so far in 2025. This represents a steep drop compared to previous years when the model was initially expected to be a top seller. In the third quarter alone, Tesla sold about 5,385 Cybertrucks, which is a 63% decrease from the same period in 2024, when over 14,000 units were delivered.

Originally, Elon Musk had forecasted annual sales of 250,000 Cybertrucks, but the current expectation is that Tesla will deliver only around 20,000 by the end of 2025. This is less than half of the estimated 50,000 sold in 2024. The Cybertruck has also lost its position as the best-selling electric pickup truck in the United States to competitors like the Ford F-150 Lightning.

Several factors have contributed to this decline, including the Cybertruck’s polarizing design, a high price point exacerbated by the expiration of federal EV tax credits, and strong competition from more conventional electric trucks. Tesla has responded by offering unsold Cybertrucks to companies within Elon Musk’s business network, such as SpaceX, which has taken delivery of hundreds of trucks for its fleet use at Texas locations.

Despite the lower sales numbers, Tesla continues to ramp up production capacity while looking for ways to boost Cybertruck appeal. The year 2025 has seen a booming overall EV market, but the Cybertruck’s struggles highlight how challenging it remains to succeed in the electric pickup segment.
