Tesla has commenced deliveries of its refreshed 2025 Model Y, codenamed “Juniper,” in the United States. On March 8, 2025, Tesla held “Handoff” events at its Fremont Factory and Giga Texas to celebrate the first deliveries to customers.
The 2025 Model Y features a refreshed front and rear design, including light bands to emphasize the vehicle’s width and the “Tesla” badging across the tailgate. Interior upgrades include a quieter cabin, an enhanced sound system, ventilated front seats, a new steering wheel, and power-folding rear seats. An 8-inch rear touchscreen and ambient lighting are also included.

The initial production batch, known as the “Launch Series,” includes premium features such as Autopilot Full Self-Driving (FSD), a Tow Package, and 20’’ Helix 2.0 Wheels. Production of the new Model Y is underway at Giga Texas and the Fremont Factory. Tesla’s Gigafactory in Shanghai received over 100,000 orders for the new Model Y within weeks of its launch in Asia, which prompted the automaker to begin production at Giga Berlin as well.

The Launch Series Tesla Model Y is priced at $59,990 and is eligible for a $7,500 Federal EV Tax Credit, potentially reducing the price to $52,490. Tesla continues to offer the legacy Model Y in North America, which, combined with the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit, can be purchased for as low as $37,490.

In the UK, the refreshed Model Y starts at £60,990, with deliveries expected to begin in May 2025. It will be available exclusively as a 5-seat Long Range All-Wheel Drive model with two color options. Tesla has also reintroduced the Rear-Wheel-Drive variant to lower the cost of ownership.
The new Model Y offers a WLTP range of 353 miles and enhanced efficiency through improved aerodynamics and suspension. The retuned suspension system aims to deliver smoother handling and enhanced comfort, while improved steering calibration promises more engaging driver feedback.
The Model Y refresh is strategically timed to maintain Tesla’s competitive edge in the electric SUV segment. As the world’s best-selling car, updates to the Model Y have substantial market implications, especially as traditional manufacturers introduce competing electric SUVs.
