Morgan Heritage Mourns the Loss of Their Lead Singer Peetah Morgan

The reggae world is mourning the passing of one of its vocalists, Peeta Morgan, who passed away on February 25, 2024 at the age of 46. Peeta was the lead singer of the Grammy-winning group Morgan Heritage, which the late five children formed reggae -Story by Denroy Morgan.

Morgan Heritage announced Peetah’s passing on their social media platforms to identify their beloved family member and band member. Peetaha was described as a true legend, a kind and loving soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Peeta Morgan was born on July 11, 1977 in Brooklyn, New York. Influenced by his father’s music career, he began singing at a young age. He co-founded Morgan Heritage with his brothers Una, Gramps, Lukes and Mojo in 1994.

Morgan Heritage won his first Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 2016 for Strictly Roots. In 2019, they won another Grammy again for their album Avrakedbara.

Peeta Morgan was known for his unique voice and impressive stage presence. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and cousin. He is survived by his wife, children, mother, brothers, other relatives, and friends.
