From TikTok to Luzira: The Story of Ibrahim Musana’s aka Pressure 247 Arrest for Hate Speech

TikToker, Ibrahim Musana, also known as Pressure 247, has been lodged in Luzira Prison for promoting hate speech and spreading propaganda. He appeared before the Buganda Road court facing eight charges under the Computer Misuse Act (2021) following a complaint by the Buganda state.

Police, crime and intelligence agencies arrested Musana last weekend after he posted videos on his social media platforms like TikTok, attacking the origin of Kabaka (King) Ronald Muwenda Mutebi Buganda did II so, and other state officials.

According to police spokesperson Fred Enanga, Musana’s videos are “embarrassing and grossly disrespectful” to the Kabaka and the Buganda nation and incite violence and hatred among people.

He said police were investigating more than 50 videos uploaded by Musana, as well He would face charges of misuse of social media platforms, hate speech, malicious content and incitement to violence by Computer Use Under the Wrongdoing Act.

Musana denied the allegations before Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi, who remanded him in custody until March 7, the hardship added that he was a comedian and that his videos were for entertainment.
