Cindy Sanyu, one of Uganda’s top female artists, has signed a lucrative five-year endorsement deal with fragrance and fashion company Gabriel BA worth Ugx300m.
The singer, who is also known as “The King Herself”, was escorted by her husband Okuyo Prynce Joel to the signing ceremony.
Cindy Sanyu expressed her excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to work with Gabriel BA, a brand that she said aligns with her values and vision. She also thanked her fans for their support and promised to deliver quality music and entertainment.
The deal comes at a time when Cindy Sanyu is preparing for a historic musical battle with another female star, Sheebah Karungi, who is also known as “Queen Sheebah”. The two singers are set to face off at Kololo Airstrip on September 15, 2023, in what is expected to be a thrilling and competitive show.
Cindy Sanyu and Sheebah Karungi have been trading words for months, with each claiming to be the best in the industry.
The rivalry has sparked a lot of interest and debate among their fans and the public. However, Cindy Sanyu clarified that the battle is not personal, but rather a way of showcasing their talent and celebrating women in music.
“Sheebah and I have an upcoming battle. We are on the verge of creating history with the industry’s inaugural female battle. This stands as encouragement for women. I want to stress that Sheebah and I are not adversaries in a personal sense,” she stated.
The battle is being organized by Victoria University, which has also appointed Sheebah Karungi as its ambassador. The university’s vice chancellor, Dr. Lawrence Muganga, said that the event is aimed at promoting music as a tool for inspiring and uniting people.
“We acknowledge that their recent exchange reflects their passion for their craft and is a testament to their immense talent. This foundation has inspired us to challenge Queen Sheebah Karungi and ‘The King Herself’ Cindy Sanyu to engage in a productive musical battle, especially in light of recent media discussions,” Dr. Muganga said.
He added that the university will also host its graduation ceremony and the Vusi MasterClass at Kololo Airstrip on September 14, 2023, before the musical battle the following day.
