Eddy Kenzo, the leader of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), has dismissed the allegation that he opened his own federation after Dr. Tee had already established one in 2022.
Dr. Tee, a musician, had claimed on Bukedde TV that he was the president of the musicians’ federation and that Kenzo should join him instead of forming a rival one.
“He can still come and take the position of the president plus his team, unless his purpose is not for fighting for musicians. I see no need for Kenzo to open his own. It’s better he comes and joins me,” Dr. Tee said.
However, Kenzo refuted this claim during a party in Buyala, Mpigi on June 22 to celebrate his presidency. He said that he had never heard of Dr. Tee’s federation and that neither had the musicians he represented.
“It’s impossible here in Uganda, especially in the arts, to start a federation that artists don’t know about. I have never heard of Dr. Tee’s federation. Even the people I lead don’t know about it,” he said.
He added that he and other musicians only recognized the UNMF and that Dr. Tee should join them instead of making false claims.
“Our main goal in creating it was to unite and fight for what is rightfully ours, such as the copyright law. In fact, Dr. Tee should join us instead of claiming he also has a federation, which I don’t believe exists. Many people are trying to undermine my federation,” he said.
