In the Napak District, the authorities recently reunited more than 200 children with their families after rescuing them from Kampala's streets.

In a joint operation, the Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA, the Ministry of Gender, and the police collected up 260 kids who were then sent to the Koblin Youth Rehabilitation Centers in the Napak District.

The majority of the children who were saved were younger than 10 years old, and thanks to the efforts of the local authorities and affiliated Civil Society Organizations, these children have been reunited with their families, according to Robert Odida, the in-charge of the Koblin Youth Rehabilitation Center.

Following advice on child protection, each family signed a paper attesting to their acceptance of the children and their commitment to their protection. He claims that the remaining kids are still housed at the facility where they are receiving therapy.

The Koblin group is currently being trained in a variety of trades, including masonry, tailoring, baking, and hairdressing, among others so that when they are released following their rehabilitation, they will be able to launch their own businesses and find employment for themselves or will have the necessary skills to find employment.
