Bail granted to two journalists who were arrested in jinja on suspicion of murdering local business man Shaban Malore.

Dennis Isabirye from Baba FM and Ivan Mutyaba from Busoga One FM,  appeared before Tom Chemutai, a judge on the Jinja High court, on Tuesday. He granted them cash bail of Shs 200,000 each.

After technological evidence established a connection between the journalists and the people who interacted with Malore before his shooting, they were arrested and detained.

The pair were put behind bars and indicted with three counts of murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, and concealing the murder.

On the other hand, on Tuesday the journalist requested bail through their attorney Andrew Mumbere of the Human Rights Network for Journalists-HRNJ, and provided four sureties, and their request was approved.

A non-cash bond for 10 million shillings was signed by each surety. The three were asked to return to court on July 28, 2022, so that their case could be discussed, according to Justice Chemutai.
