Rahmah Pinky, a rising singer, recently shared her frightening experience of nearly being forced into a marriage against her will. At the age of 17, Rahmah's parents arranged for her to marry a 50-year-old man who promised to provide a better life for her in the USA, including funding her education. Despite her protests, the wedding was organized with few guests in attendance.

In a desperate attempt to avoid the marriage, Rahmah turned to alcohol, although she was Muslim. However, her parents remained determined, and the ceremony went ahead as planned. It was then that Rahmah realized she needed to take drastic action to avoid being forced into a life she didn't want.

While she was changing into her wedding dress, she ran away, determined to save herself. Rahmah never looked back and successfully stopped the ceremony.

Although her mother was committed to marrying her off, Rahmah knew she wasn't ready for such a commitment at such a young age. Reflecting on her experience, Rahmah is grateful that she managed to avoid such a terrible fate and hopes that other young girls will never have to face the same ordeal.

"When I was 17 years old, after finishing form six, my parents wanted to marry me off to an old man. I never wanted to, but I felt powerless. I tried drinking the day before the wedding, hoping I would get sick and stop everything, but the ceremony still went ahead. My makeup was done, and I was on a drip, but I still managed to run away in the middle of the celebration. That's how I survived being forced into an early marriage," Rahmah Pinky recounted.
